Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions before requesting a session? You're in the right place.
Getting started
If you're new to cuddle therapy, you may have questions about what to expect. Every cuddle session is unique, but they're all built on communication, consent, and clear boundaries. Before your session, you'll have the opportunity to discuss your comfort level, preferences, and any questions you may have. The video below walks you through a typical session from start to finish.
Every cuddle session is different because every person is different. There isn't one "right" way to cuddle. Each session is shaped by the people involved, their comfort levels, and what they're hoping to get from the experience. Some people enjoy conversation, while others prefer quiet. Some like more physical closeness, while others prefer less. Your Cuddlist will help guide the session, answer your questions, and check in with you along the way, creating an experience that's built around consent, trust, and connection.
Anyone is welcome to request a cuddle session as long as they meet the legal age requirements in their location and agree to follow our Code of Conduct. These guidelines help create a safe, respectful experience for everyone involved.
Safety is a core part of the Cuddlist experience. Every Cuddlist on our site has completed our certification program, where they receive training in communication, consent, healthy boundaries, and trauma-informed care. Each cuddle session is guided by our Code of Conduct and shaped through open communication between you and your Cuddlist. If you ever have questions or concerns, we're here to help.
Choosing a Cuddlist
Every Cuddlist brings their unique personality, communication style, and approach to cuddle sessions. Take some time to read Cuddlist profiles, explore their experience and interests, and consider what kind of support you're looking for. You're welcome to ask questions when requesting a session to help you decide whether a Cuddlist feels like the right match.
Every practitioner on our site has completed the Cuddlist certification course. A green checkmark means the Cuddlist has also passed a voluntary background check through an independent third-party service. Certification covers important skills like communication, consent, healthy boundaries, and creating safe, respectful experiences. The checkmark provides an additional layer of trust when choosing a Cuddlist.
Every Cuddlist listed on our site has completed the Cuddlist certification program. To become certified, they receive training in trauma-informed cuddle therapy, communication, consent, healthy boundaries, cultural competency, and embodied presence. Experienced trainers assess each student's understanding and application of these skills and support their continued growth in ongoing mentorship sessions.
Each Cuddlist decides where they offer sessions. Their profile will indicate whether they host sessions at their location (In-Call), travel to yours (Out-Call), or offer both. If your Cuddlist only offers Out-Call sessions and meeting at your home isn't an option, you can discuss other appropriate locations together, such as a hotel, park, or another comfortable public space.
Cuddlist helps you connect with certified Cuddlists, but each Cuddlist manages their own independent practice. Payment, pricing, and scheduling arrangements are handled directly with your Cuddlist before your session. You'll find pricing information on individual profiles. Once you connect with a Cuddlist, they will guide you through the next steps and answer any questions you have.
Payment is arranged directly with your Cuddlist before your session. They'll explain their preferred payment method and answer any questions you have in advance.
Some Cuddlists choose to accept session requests only from registered users. If you don't see a Request a Session button on a Cuddlist's profile, create a free account to contact them. Creating an account and filling out your profile helps Cuddlists learn more about you, your goals, and your preferences for cuddle sessions. All account and profile information is confidential.
During your session
Wear whatever feels comfortable to you. Many people choose cozy clothing like sweatpants, leggings, or pajama pants. For everyone's comfort and safety, both you and your Cuddlist must wear clothing that covers at least the torso and upper thighs, such as a tank top and shorts.
That's entirely up to you and your Cuddlist. Some people enjoy meaningful conversations, while others prefer quiet companionship. Every session is different, and together you'll decide what feels comfortable. While your Cuddlist is there to listen with compassion, cuddle therapy is not counseling or coaching. Your Cuddlist will communicate openly about their boundaries and help create an experience that feels safe and respectful for both of you. Conversations are treated confidentially, except where disclosure is required by law or necessary to prevent harm.
Every session is unique. As long as you and your Cuddlist are comfortable and your activities follow our Code of Conduct, you're welcome to shape the session together. Some people enjoy conversation, board games, reading together, music, gentle movement, shared meals, or simply spending quiet time together.
Sexual arousal is a normal physiological response to many things, including touch. On its own, it isn't a problem and doesn't mean you've done anything wrong. Cuddle therapy is a strictly platonic practice, so neither you nor your Cuddlist should respond in ways that encourage or increase arousal. If it happens, it can simply be acknowledged—or not—and allowed to pass without becoming the focus of the session.
Your comfort and consent come first. If anything feels uncomfortable at any point, let your Cuddlist know right away. Together, you can pause, adjust, or stop the activity—there's no need to wait until your discomfort grows. Open communication is an important part of cuddle therapy, and your Cuddlist wants you to speak up. If you'd like to end the session early for any reason, simply let them know.
Good personal hygiene helps create a comfortable experience for everyone. Both you and your Cuddlist are expected to arrive clean, wearing freshly laundered clothing, and ready to enjoy the session together. If you ever have concerns about a Cuddlist's hygiene, please let us know so we can address the matter with them.
Policies
Everyone using Cuddlist agrees to our Terms & Conditions and Code of Conduct, which outline important expectations around consent, communication, and respectful interactions. Individual Cuddlists may have additional agreements or policies for their sessions. Your Cuddlist will provide any relevant details before your session.
Each Cuddlist sets their own cancellation policy, so we recommend discussing scheduling expectations before booking a session. Clear communication helps create a positive experience for everyone involved. While both parties should respect each other's time and commitments, consent always comes first. No one is ever required to participate in a session or physical contact they are uncomfortable with.
Privacy and trust are at the heart of every Cuddlist experience. Practitioners are expected to maintain confidentiality and protect your personal information as part of our Code of Conduct. A Cuddlist session is a private experience between you and your practitioner. At times, practitioners may discuss general experiences or seek professional guidance from other practitioners to support best practices. In these cases, they are expected to do so thoughtfully and without sharing any identifying details.
Tipping is completely optional. Tips are always appreciated, but never expected.
